Firstly I must apologise for not putting up any new images. This is because yesterday afternoon, my Photoshop organizer decided to crash and as of yet, I haven't been able to repair the catalogue.
A male GOLDENEYE has stayed at Moor Green Lakes, for most of the month and a few days ago it ventured close enough for me to get some decent photo's. Unfortunately they were lost when the organizer crashed, ah well, I shall try again.
CHIFFCHAFF have been seen regularly at the sewage farm, along with good numbers of PIED WAGTAIL and a few GREY WAGTAIL. I'm not surprised that they are attracted here, judging by the number of small flies that are about.
A pair of WHOOPER SWANS visited the reserve, which was a bonus, as they haven't been seen here for many a year. They only stayed for the day and flew off later that afternoon.
A pair of SMEW were found at Colebrook Lake South, between Christmas and the New Year. The male was a dark phase bird, but very attractive and it was great to see a pair together. Usually it's a lone bird that visits during the winter, of either male or female.
Lastly, for those of us that celebrate it, I wish you all a very Happy and Peaceful New Year.
