I was only able to get out birding on two occasions, as the build up to Christmas tends to be a very busy time for those people that celebrate it.
On the 3rd, I was at Moor Green Lakes and being a Monday, my fellow birders, Gordon and Tony usually meet up, for a social gathering and of course a bit of birding.
Seen on the day were Fieldfare, Redwing, Hawfinch, Little Grebe, Meadow Pipit, Treecreeper and Lesser Redpoll.
At the end of the month on the 28th, again at Moor Green, were good numbers of Redwing and Snipe, with Hawfinch, Goldcrest, Sparrowhawk, and four Red Kite, circling in a stack.
The highlight of the day however was a splendid male Dartford Warbler, who very obligingly perched at the top of a bramble bush, so that Gordon, Tony and myself had good views of the bird in the sunshine.
This was the second sighting of a Dartford Warbler here in a year, the last one was about this time last winter and again was spotted by eagle eyed Tony.
Last but not least, I wish everybody that celebrates it a Happy New Year and for those who dont, I wish you peace and happiness.
