It's been another quiet month for me, birding wise. The highlights have been an adult YELLOW LEGGED GULL at Moor Green Lakes on the 10th and 17th and an adult and 3rd summer juvenile on the 19th. Also on the 17th was an OYSTERCATCHER, resting in amongst the flock of gulls. This was the first OYSTERCATCHER that I had seen here which I was pleased with. The Gull numbers appear to be on the increase now that the breeding season is coming to an end, which is evident with the number of juvenile BLACK HEADED GULL'S that were there. On the 25th July, I went to Keyhaven/Pennington on a scorching hot day, where the mid day temperature climbed to 32c and the wind was about 4mph, coming from the land, perfect. Again it was fairly quiet and I was hoping to see the WOOD SANDPIPER that had been reported earlier that day, but after speaking to a local birder, I had missed it by 30 minutes. Still the day wasn't wasted, I took some reasonable photos of COMMON TERN, LITTLE GREBE and CORMORANT and the hot sunny day was a real bonus.
