The country has been battered with severe storms during February, with little respite during the whole month.
Countless trees have been uprooted along the River Blackwater, which flows alongside Moor green Lakes, Berkshire.
With the large amount of rain that has fallen, the river burst its banks on two occasions flooding the surrounding area.
As a result of the weather, birding trips were few and far between.
Red Crested Pochard were still at Fleethill Farm, where they have been for a number of weeks. Oystercatcher have arrived back on the reserve, hopefully to breed. Black Headed Gull numbers have increased dramatically and are starting to claim their nesting areas.
Cormorant numbers have know reached fifty, with some males looking splendid in their breeding plumage. Redwing are still present, but not in the numbers seen in previous years. As yet I have not seen a single Fieldfare this winter.
A male Shelduck has returned to the reserve, but as of yet is still waiting for his mate to appear.
