At Moor Green, the pair of Oystercatchers successfully raised three chicks, sadly later on, one was predated. The Tern rafts were heavily populated with nesting Black Headed gulls and well grown chicks.
A family of Blue Tits came through the garden last week, the female stopping now and then to feed her three offspring.
The sole survivor of six Blue Tits that hatched in the garden bird box, has now reached the point where it will fledge in a day or so. Without a male bird to help her feed the youngsters, she couldnt keep up and so they all perished except one.
The weather for the month has been mixed with rain early on and some warm days towards the end, which hopefully will help insects to hatch, which in turn will feed the birds.
