There are no complaints from me about the weather over the last few weeks, in my part of the world in southern England, it has been dry, hot and sunny, with very little rain, apart from a thunderstorm or two.
As far as birding goes , it has been on the lean side. Certainly not the fault of the birds, but mine, as I have been busy doing other things that needed attention. During the whole of July, I managed only three trips, two to my local patch, Moor Green Lakes, Berkshire, and one to Keyhaven/Lymington, Hampshire. On the 23rd, at Moor Green, was a juvenile LITTLE OWL, in the usual oak tree, where they are often seen. Other juvenile birds, seen in good numbers were, TUFTED DUCK, LITTLE GREBE, COMMON TERN, STONECHAT, Gt. CRESTED GREBE and MOORHEN,
The 29th, took me to Keyhaven/Pennington, on another gloriously hot and sunny day. Birds of note were, 3x RAVENS, 6x MEDITERRANEAN GULL, 1 adult and 3 juvenile CETTI'S WARBLER, 3x SANDERLING and a LITTLE STINT.
Now that August is here, I'm hoping to get more birding trips in and if the weather remains the same, I will be very pleased.
