As such the pond waterfall has been in regular demand from the birds wanting to cool down from the heat.
A Great Spotted Woodpecker has been seen on a few occasions, it flies and lands at the top of a tall conifer nearby and then moves on to a small wooded area close by where I suspect it has a nest.
Collared Doves have been regular visitors to the garden feeding station and have a liking for the sunflower hearts. They seem to be coming more used to my wife and I sitting a few yards away on the patio and now hardly take any notice of us when at the feeders.
A single House Martin, my first this year flew close by the house from the airfield, where in the past they have nested in an old building. Hopefully I will see a few more.
On the last day of the month I was delighted to see a Swift, my first this year. This has always been my favourite bird and I was very glad to see one again even though it was alone and fairly high passing over the garden.
