The male was stunning and in full song, but quite elusive. The juveniles were like a lot of small bird juveniles, brown and spotty.
Some very good news about the Mediterranean Gull chick, in the last few days it has finally fledged. On my last visit to Moor Green Lakes, Berkshire, I saw it flying around the gull colony and swimming in the lake. This is the first of its species to have fledged at the reserve. The Black Headed gulls have also had a very good breeding season with many juveniles now fledged.
Common Terns have also been fairly successful with young chicks running around, fingers crossed that they all fledge.
